Programmatic SEO
Definition
Programmatic SEO generates large numbers of pages from a template and a structured dataset — such as service by location or product by category — to target patterned long-tail queries at scale.
It works when the underlying data genuinely differs per page and each page answers a real query usefully. Property listings by community, or service pages by emirate where the market conditions actually differ, are legitimate applications.
It fails, often catastrophically, when the template swaps a city name into otherwise identical copy. Search engines classify that as scaled content abuse, and the penalty typically affects the whole domain rather than just the generated pages. The test is simple: if a human reader would gain nothing from the page existing separately, it should not exist.
